Q: How do I know what size bone to give my dog?

A: Bones are an all-natural, healthy treat for your dog, provided that you use the right type. All Jurassic Dog Bones have size recommendations right on the label, but the best rule of thumb is, "Always buy a bone that's stronger than your dog". You never want to give a small bone to a large dog because instead of chewing on it their jaw power could cause it to shatter. Use only Megasaurus (beef femur bone), T-Rex (beef humerus bone) or T-Rex Juniors (center cut femur bone) for large dogs. They cost a little more but they last a long time and most importantly, they're safe for a large dog.

Q: What if I got a medium sized dog a bone intended for a large dog?

A: Your dog will still enjoy the taste, but it will be a little harder for the dog to enjoy the bone because his/her jaw may not be large enough to get a good bite on it. Basically you'd be making it harder for your dog to enjoy their bone.

Q: So what do you recommend for a dog about 40 pounds?

A: This would be considered a medium-sized dog and you could use our most popular treat, the Baby Mega Bone (pork femur bone). Also popular for medium sized dogs are Brontosaurus Tracks (beef femur joint) and even T-Rex Juniors.

Q: Can you recommend something for a small dog or puppy?

A: While a small dog could have fun trying to handle a Baby Mega Bone, ideally these little guys can be given Infant Pterodactyl Bones (lamb femur bone), Cave Man Rib Bones (beef rib bone), Pterodactyl Eggs (beef kneecaps) and even Midnite Snax (two cut femur bones).

Q: Can you give a dog bone to a puppy?

A: Absolutely! The bone will help cut new teeth and provide hours of entertainment.

Q: Will eating a bone be harmful to my dog?

A: By purchasing the correct sized bone, your dog will be grinding off small bits at a time. A dog has a tremendously strong digestive system and will have no problem digesting this all-natural protein.

Q: What's safer for my dog, a bone or rawhide?

A: Contrary to what you may have heard, dog bones! Dogs have a natural instinct to swallow whatever they're chewing as soon as they feel they can accomplish it. Just watch your dog eat sometime! When chewing on rawhide, it becomes dangerous when it gets small enough that the dog feels it can swallow it. Sadly, many dogs have choked to death on a piece of rawhide that couldn't be completely swallowed. IMPORTANT: We urge dog owners, regardless of whatever the chew treat you give your pet, to do so only when you are in a position to provide supervision. The more supervision you provide, the lesser the odds your pet will experience a problem.
